Solid Rise in Mexican Chickpea CropVANCOUVER - Feb 3/06 - SNS -- North American chickpea markets attracted more media attention during the past week, as several companies publicly declared it was the crop to grow in 2006. Unfortunately, this view appears to be shared by growers around the world, with the result average prices obtained for kabuli chickpeas should be expected to decline in 2006-07. Mexico is a key player in the top end market. Last year it had a well below normal exportable surplus of around 33,000 metric tons (MT).
