PHOENIX PECAN REPORT.
---ARIZONA AND NEW MEXICO
Deliveries by growers to buying points were moderate for large lots as
growers continued to deliver committed nuts and light for small lots as the
season draws to a close. Deliveries are expected to continue for the next few
weeks. Demand was moderate for the remaining available supplies. Prices paid to
growers were about steady although a weaker undertone existed for large lot
volume. Harvesting, cleaning and grading is generally complete.
Delivered quality has been good with offerings of Western Schley generally
ranging on large lots 55% meat yield or better, and on smaller lots 52% meat
yield or better.
Buying interest by end users was moderate for commercial sheller use. Trading
has been fairly slow as most users continue to utilize inventories on hand or
supplies from recent purchases. Most growers have marketed their crop or have
established agreements with users to market all or part of their crop with
varying provisions made for time of delivery and payment, storage and pricing
but some growers are delaying making marketing decisions, reluctant to accept
offers at current market price levels instead opting to utilize cold storage
facilities in order to market nuts at a later time.
Prices paid to growers from Thursday afternoon, January 26, 2006 to noon
Thursday, February 02, 2006 at delivery point or F.O.B. the orchard.
