Kellogg Finishes 2005 on Strong NoteNEW YORK - Jan 31/06 - SNS -- Kellogg Company reported net earnings of U.S. $192.4 million on sales of $2,493.3 million during the fourth quarter ending December 31, compared to a net of $186.94 million on sales of $2,390.8 million during the same three month period of the previous fiscal year. This lifted net earnings for the 2005 fiscal year to $980.4 million on sales of $10,177.2 million, compared to a net of $890.6 million on sales of $9,613.9 million during the previous fiscal year. Kellogg North America reported net sales growth of 7% in 2005, and 2% in the fourth quarter, also affected by last year's extra week. Internal sales growth was 8% in 2005, up from 5% in 2004; internal sales growth in the fourth quarter was also 8%. The Company reported its sixth consecutive year of U.S. ready-to-eat cereal category share gains which resulted in North America Retail Cereal posting strong internal sales growth of 8% in 2005.
