Quiet Winter Trading in LentilsVANCOUVER - Jan 27/06 - SNS -- Lentil markets were little changed during the past week, reflecting relatively quiet winter trading conditions. Markets in the United States were encouraged by the latest government food aid tender which contained a request for offers of 2,240 metric tons (MT) of lentils for shipment in March. Attracting some attention was a request for 970 MT of lentils for shipment to Colombia. The country attracts limited food aid from the World Food Program each year, suggesting to some that the request for lentils for the country is a market development initiative.
