Bean Markets Unaffected by USDA ReportsVANCOUVER - Jan 13/06 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were mostly unchanged under quiet trading conditions during the past week. Updated production estimates from the USDA had little impact on market in the United States, with processors focusing on completing shipments against earlier sales. The week saw the USDA buy a small quantity of small red beans for shipment as food aid in March, lifting government purchases of beans to 27,140 metric tons (MT) so far during the 2005-06 marketing year. Argentine markets were relatively quiet, with spot white alubia beans strong in the face of tight supplies; while limited trading continued at lower levels in new crop shipping positions.
