Tighter U.S. Sugar SituationWASHINGTON - Jan 12/06 - SNS -- The sugar supply situation in the United States is slightly tighter than initially thought because of smaller crops, according to updated supply and demand forecast by the USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board. Projected U.S. sugar supply for 2005-06 is decreased 75,000 short tons, raw value, from last month, due to lower production projections compiled by the Farm Service Agency. Lower cane sugar production in Florida and Hawaii more than offsets an increase in Louisiana. Beet sugar production is lowered marginally.
