USDA Buys for 1,860 MT Pulses
KANSAS CITY - Jan 11/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 1,860 metric tons (MT) of lentils and small red beans for prepositioning at ports for future uses.
Under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 016A, the USDA bought the lentils and beans for shipment between February 21 and March 5 from inland plants; and between March 6 and 20 for plants located at the port.
In announcing details of the tender result, the USDA noted, "All offers for 2,000 MT of yellow peas were rejected due to price."
