Weekly U.S. Rail Loadings Slip
WASHINGTON - Jan 6/06 - SNS -- The number of carloads of grains and oilseeds delivered to U.S. ports for the week ending December 28 slipped, according to the USDA's Transportation and Marketing Programs/Transportation Services Branch weekly Grain Transportation Report.
Total carloads delivered to major port areas during the week totalled 7,094, down from 10,026 the previous week. This lifted crop year to date deliveries to 450,050 cars, up 8% from the 414,888 cars unloaded during the same period last season.
The data reveals interesting shifts in the direction of agricultural exports, with the number of cars entering Mexico up 1,700 at 60,885 so far this year; while shipments to the Pacific Northwest are up around 13,600 at 223,274 cars.
