Vietnam Resumes Rice ExportsWASHINGTON - Jan 4/06 - SNS -- Vietnam has lifted its ban on export shipments, allowing companies to make new sales and move product against prior sales commitments. Despite the ban, exporters have so far sold an estimated 600,000 metric tons (MT) of rice, including 342,500 MT to the Philippines and 100,000 MT to Indonesia. The country expects rice exports to drop from 5.2 million MT in 2005 to a projected 4.2 million MT this year.
