WCE Reports Daily RecordWINNIPEG - Dec 15/05 - SNS -- The Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) recorded its highest daily volume today since converting to an electronic trading platform on December 20, 2004. Today's volume on WCE was 23,566 futures and options contracts. The previous record for daily electronic volume was set on May 31, 2005 when a total of 21,861 futures and options contracts were traded. 12,395 March 2006 canola futures contracts were traded, which is the highest volume recorded in a March canola contract since January 19, 1999 when 13,602 March 1999 canola futures contracts were traded. In addition, total open interest has been steadily increasing. As at the opening of market today, total open interest in canola futures contracts was 90,900 which is the second highest total open interest for canola futures. The highest total open interest in canola futures contracts was reached on March 21, 2001 at 98,221 contracts.
