French Field Pea Exports Maintain Down TrendVANCOUVER - Dec 14/05 - SNS -- Field pea exports during the first third of France's 2005-06 marketing year are down 26% from the same four month period last year, according to data assembled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP). Total shipments now tally 176,045 metric tons (MT). In fact, monthly exports have been below year earlier levels for five consecutive months and in seven of ten months so far this calendar year. If this trend continues, exports will fall end fall further than currently forecast -- presumably because of an increase in domestic consumption rates and a willingness by more growers to hold product in hopes of higher prices in the future.
