Little Change in Birdseed MarketsVANCOUVER - Dec 2/05 - SNS -- Few changes were noted in North American birdseed ingredient markets, with Canadian canaryseed and U.S. oil sunflower and millet unchanged. Confectionary sunflower markets in the United States, by contrast, saw grower bids for larges increase U.S. $1 per 100 pounds (cwt) to reach $16, while bids for smalls dropped a similar amount to $8 cwt. The changes reflect adjustments to account for actual yields of small are large seed in grower deliveries. While North American markets were little changed, importers report wide variances in asking prices for canaryseed and other specialty crops. The suggestion is processors remain unwilling or unable to hold long positions and are working hard to convert grower purchases.
