Dairy Product Rises in NovemberWASHINGTON - Dec 2/05 - SNS -- The United States recorded a general increase in the quantity of dairy product manufactured in November, judging from the latest USDA data. Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 755 million pounds, 0.9% above October 2004 and 1.7% above September 2005. American type cheese production totaled 310 million pounds, 0.3% above October 2004 and 2.8% above September 2005. Butter production was 108 million pounds, 3.0% above October 2004 and 7.4% above September 2005. Frozen dessert: (comparisons with October 2004): Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 69.1 million gallons, up 1.3%; Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 29.5 million gallons, down 5.6%; Ice cream, Nonfat (hard) --- 1.40 million gallons, down 14.3%; Sherbet (hard) --- 3.90 million gallons, up 7.3%; and Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 4.65 million gallons, down 11.8%. Nonfat dry milk for human food: (compared with October 2004) --- 73.7 million pounds, down 22.2%. Dry whey products: (comparisons with October 2004): Dry whey, human --- 75.9 million pounds, up 0.9%; Dry whey, animal --- 6.46 million pounds, up 13.1%; and Dry whey, total --- 82.3 million pounds, up 1.8%.
