Dominican Sugar Output SlipsWASHINGTON 0 Nov 9/05 - SNS -- Sugar production in the Dominican Republic is expected to reach 485,000 metric tons (MT) raw value (MTRV) for the 2005 marketing year, with a chance production could expand slightly next season. The U.S. agricultural attache for the country says output did not reach the country's potential "due to burning of sugar fields and labor protest." The two largest private producers, Central Romana and the Vicini Group, produced almost 400,000 MTRV this year. This quantity exceeded 80% of total country output.
