Cuba Buys North Dakota PulsesBISMARK - Nov 7/05 - SNS -- The Cuban government signed contracts to buy U.S. $20 million worth of North Dakota agricultural commodities, including peas, chickpeas and dry edible beans, according to state Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson and U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND). "Cuban officials have agreed to negotiate and sign contracts worth $20 million with North Dakota-based companies in the next 18 months," said Johnson, who led a delegation of North Dakota companies to Cuba this week for the 23rd Havana International Trade Fair.
