Australian Expects 2MMT Pulse HarvestVANCOUVER - Nov 4/05 - SNS -- This year's pulse harvest in Australia will exceed two million metric tons (MT), rising almost 19% above last year's 1.69 million MT crop, according to a recent situation update from the industry group, Pulse Australia. "The season in Western Australia started well, suffered a record dry July, and has since had good spring rains with cool weather to assist crop finishing. Yield potential is good and favorable harvest conditions could see crop estimates exceeded," Pulse Australia said in its market update. "In south east Australia (South Australia, Victoria and southern New South Wales) there was a late start but for most the winter spring rainfall to date has been timely. If October continues to be mild and with the recent rains average crop yields are still achievable. "In the north east (Queensland and northern New South Wales) the spring has generally been hot and dry although some districts received useful September and early October rain. Crops planted into full moisture profiles will still yield well but conversely crops in the drier regions will be disappointing." Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
