Dairy Product Output Eases in SeptemberWASHINGTON - Nov 3/05 - SNS -- Dairy product output was generally above year earlier levels, though down on the month, judging from the latest USDA data for the sector., Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 742 million pounds, 3.9% above September 2004 but 1.6% below August 2005. American type cheese production totaled 302 million pounds, 2.6% above September 2004 but 3.1% below August 2005. Butter production was 101 million pounds in July, 7.2% above September 2004 and 10.3% above August 2005. Frozen dessert: (comparisons with September 2004): Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 73.1 million gallons, up 3.3%; Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 32.5 million gallons, down 5.9%; Ice cream, Nonfat (hard) --- 1.49 million gallons, up 2.7%; Sherbet (hard) --- 4.99 million gallons, up 18.3%; and Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 5.15 million gallons, down 10.4%.
