USDA Designates Ag Disaster CountiesWASHINGTON - Oct 27/05 - SNS -- The USDA designated counties in Oregon and Texas primary natural disaster areas, making all qualified farm operators eligible for low-interest emergency (EM) loans from USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). In Oregon, Lane County was designated as a primary natural disaster area due to losses caused by excessive ongoing rains that occurred from March 16, 2005, through May 16, 2005. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Benton, Deschutes, Douglas, Klamath, Lincoln and Linn Counties. In Texas, Haskell County was designated as a primary natural disaster area due to losses caused by excessive rain and flash flooding that occurred from Aug. 9, 2005, through Aug. 15, 2005. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Baylor, Jones, King, Knox, Shackelford, Stonewall and Throckmorton Counties. Comanche County was designated a primary natural disaster area due to flooding that occurred from Aug. 9, 2005, through Aug. 10, 2005. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Brown, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton and Mills Counties. Due to losses caused by excessive rain and flash flooding that occurred from Aug. 14, 2005, and continuing, Jones and Knox Counties were designated as primary natural disaster areas. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Baylor, Callahan, Fisher, Foard, Haskell, King, Nolan, Shackelford, Stonewall, Taylor and Throckmorton Counties. Camp, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris and Titus Counties were designated primary natural disaster areas due to losses caused by drought that occurred from April 1, 2005, and continuing. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Bowie, Cass, Delta, Fannin, Hunt, Marion, Rains, Red River, Upshur and Wood Counties. The counties listed above were designated natural disaster areas on Oct. 18, 2005. Fisher County was designated a primary natural disaster area due to losses caused by excessive rain, and flooding that occurred on Aug. 9, 2005, and flooding that occurred from Aug. 12, 2005, through Aug. 16, 2005. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Jones, Kent, Mitchell, Nolan, Scurry, Stonewall and Taylor.
