CNH Q3 Net Income Rises

NEW YORK - Oct 25/05 - SNS -- CNH Global N.V. reported net income of U.S. $27 million on revenue of $2,768 million in the quarter ending September 30, compared to a net of $25 million on revenue of $2,789 million during the third quarter of the previous fiscal year.

This lifted fiscal year to date net earnings to $156 million on revenue of $8,985 million, compared to a net of $99 million on revenue of $8,714 million the first nine months of the previous fiscal year.

In reporting its financial results, the company noted gross margins (net sales of equipment less cost of goods sold) for agricultural and construction equipment represented as a percent of net sales, improved by 1.5 percentage points to 15.7% of net sales, or $434 million, in the third quarter of 2005, compared to 14.2% of net sales, or $396 million, in the third quarter of last year.

Net sales of equipment, comprising the company's agricultural and construction equipment businesses were $9.0 billion for the first nine months of 2005, compared to $8.7 billion for the same period in 2004. Net of currency variations, net sales were at approximately the same level as in the prior year.
