Bird Flu Suspected in CaucasusKIEV - Oct 21/05 - APK -- Stavropol Krai (a North-Caucasian steppe area region, one of the major producers of grain crops and other agricultural products) got into the list of Russia's regions, where bird flu infection has been suspected. Thus, ITAR-TASS news agency cited the Head of Russia's state authority for agricultural control (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergey Danquert as saying that "in one of the settlements of Stavropol Krai mass deaths of poultry have been registered".
