U.S. Sunflower Harvest 20% DoneWASHINGTON - Oct 17/05 - SNS -- This year's sunflower seed harvest is around 20% complete across the United States, judging from the latest state level crop progress reports. Heavy rains in the western third of Kansas slowed harvesting. Around 97% of the sunflowers are in the bracts yellow stage, compared to 87% last year but the same as the 5-year average. Roughly 84% of the sunflowers are in the mature dry down stage, compared to 60% last year and 86% for the 5-year average.
