European Organic Farming RisingWASHINGTON - Sep 15/05 - SNS -- Land used by organic farmers in the European Union rose 21% between 1998 and 2002, accounting for 3.8% of total farm output, compared to 1.8% in 1998, according to a recent reviewed by the U.S. agricultural attache for the region. The total organic area in the EU15, fully converted or under conversion has increased from 2.3 million hectares in 1998 to 4.9 million hectares in 2002.
