Campbell Soup Profits Advance

NEW YORK - Sep 12/05 - SNS -- Campbell Soup Company reported net earnings of U.S. $96 million on sales of $1,498 million during the fourth quarter ending July 31, compared to a net of $59 million on sales of $1,433 million during the same three month period of the previous fiscal year.

This lifted net earnings for the full fiscal year to $707 million on sales of $7,548 million, compared to a net of $647 million on sales of $7,109 million during the previous fiscal year.

In reporting its results, Campbell Soup said sales of U.S. soup, sauces and beverages for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 increased 2% to $521 million. For fiscal 2005, sales for U.S. Soup, Sauces and Beverages were $3,098 million, a 3% increase compared to a year ago.

Baking and Snacking sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 increased 7% to $439 million. For fiscal 2005, Baking and Snacking sales were $1,742 million, an 8% increase compared to a year ago.
