Meat Stocks Inch Upward in UKLONDON - Jul 4/02 - STAT -- The quantity of meat held in cold storage in the United Kingdom at the end of May was down from year earlier levels, according to the latest report from the country's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The month ended with 55,400 metric tons (MT) of product on hand, up from the 54,800 MT on hand at the end of April, but down from the 57,400 MT in cold storage as of May 26, 2001. The decrease was accounted for by easing stocks of lamb and mutton, pork and offal. Beef and veal stocks were slightly higher on both a monthly and year over year basis.
