Strong Start to Canada's Shipping SeasonVANCOUVER - Sep 2/05 - SNS -- The 2005-06 shipping season is off to a strong start in Canada, with an estimated 201,104 metric tons (MT) of field peas and around 8,749 MT of lentils shipped through licensed terminals at Thunder Bay and Vancouver, according to data available from the Canadian Ports Clearance Association. August turned in the strongest opening season performance for the specialty crop sector since it starting moving product on a bulk conventional basis to overseas buyers. Port clearances reported by the association since 2000 have ranged from an high of 50,276 MT of specialty crops in August, 2000 and a low of 2,200 MT in August of 2002.
