Milk Product Output Eases in JulyWASHINGTON - Sep 2/05 - SNS -- Dairy product production levels eased in July, but remained above year earlier levels, judging from the latest USDA report on the sector. Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 737 million pounds, 4.0% above July 2004 but 3.3% below June 2005. American type cheese production totaled 315 million pounds, 4.2% above July 2004 but 1.9% below June 2005. Butter production was 94.7 million pounds in July, 2.3% above July 2004 but 10.9% below June 2005. Frozen dessert: (comparisons with July 2004): Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 87.6 million gallons, up 12.5%; Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 39.3 million gallons, down 7.5%; Ice cream, Nonfat (hard) --- 1.87 million gallons, up 8.5%; Sherbet (hard) --- 5.38 million gallons, up 14.6%; and Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 5.64 million gallons, down 1.2%.
