Chickpeas Ignore Larger Harvest NumberVANCOUVER - Aug 26/05 - SNS -- Bigger numbers for prospective chickpea harvests in Canada and the United States will have little to no impact on international markets for the commodity. Statistics Canada surprised markets Friday by pegging this year's harvest in Saskatchewan at 86,200 metric tons (MT), which, with a prospective 14,000 MT crop in Alberta, would see Canadian output of mainly kabuli chickpeas move above 100,000 MT, after two years below that level.
