Pakistani Cotton Harvest Seen at 1.98 million MTWASHINGTON - Aug 17/05 - SNS -- Pakistan's 2005-06 cotton harvest is expected to end up around 1.98 million metric tons (MT), assuming a normal weather pattern and pest infestation, predicts the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. "Cooler and cloudy weather with intermittent rains slowed the planting campaign, especially in Sindh province," argues the U.S. agricultural attache. "Similarly, Punjab province experienced land preparation and planting delays of 15-21 days, especially in areas where rains disrupted and delayed the harvest and threshing of the wheat crop."
