General Drop in Australian Auction Sales NumbersSYDNEY - Aug 12/05 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week against a general decline in sales numbers. Throughput for the week totalled 28,446 sheep and lambs, down from 32,313 head the previous week, ending two weeks of rising numbers. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 2,138, compared to 2,300 last week, for a second week of decreased activity. "Slaughter sheep and lambs came off, and on analysis it's obviously the skin market that has dealt the blow, as meat prices appear static," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said.
