Poultry Import Bans Hurt RussiaKIEV - Aug 8/05 - APK -- European Commission will prohibit imports of poultry from Russia and Kazakhstan due to bird flu infection poultry in the mentioned countries. The prohibition takes effect effective August 12. Embargo put by several countries on import of poultry and products from Russia will not have negative effect on Russian poultry breeding sector as poultry exports from Russia are insignificant. And Siberian region does not export poultry at all, - said Agricultural Ministry official. For today the following countries set Russian and Kazakh poultry import ban: European Union, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Hong Kong.
