Green Mountain Coffee Net Income Rises

NEW YORK - Aug 2/05 - SNS -- Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. reported net income of $2.16 million sales of $37.8 million during the quarter ending July 2, compared to a net of $1.9 million on sales of $31.3 million during the third quarter of the previous fiscal year.,

This lifted net income for the first nine months of the fiscal year to $6.5 million on sales of $125.1 million, compared to a net of $5.8 million on sales of $105.7 million the previous fiscal year.

The Company experienced a 43.5% gain in sales of certified Fair Trade and organic coffees, including sales of co-branded Newman's Own® Organic coffees. This growth benefited all sales channels.

As previously announced, the Company increased prices for certain products because of rising green coffee costs. The net impact was an increase in net sales in the third quarter of fiscal 2005 of approximately 6% over the prior year period.
