Sunday Deadline in Vancouver Truck StrikeVANCOUVER - Jul 29/05 - SNS -- Truckers and the various companies which contract for their services have been given until Sunday to respond to a mediator's proposal to end the strike. Full details of Vince Ready's proposal were not immediately available. The recommendations were presented at meetings between brokers and the Vancouver Container Truck Association (VCTA) on Friday and provide set new rates and provisions diesel fuel surcharges for the next two years. The VCTA represents around 1,000 truckers, who handle about 40% of the container traffic at the port of Vancouver.
