Canadian Crop Concern for ChickpeasVANCOUVER - Jul 15/05 - SNS -- International chickpeas markets remained firm against ongoing production concerns in North America and a short crop in Mexico. Louis Dreyfus Canada Ltd. notes, "Growing conditions in Saskatchewan and Alberta are excellent, raising yield estimates for peas, lentils and chickpeas. However, ongoing moisture and high heat are combining to create some yield concerns, which in particular in chickpeas could lower productivity and harvest quality."
