Mixed June for Turkey HatcheryWASHINGTON - Jul 13/05 - SNS -- Turkey hatchery activity recorded a mixed performance in June, with fewer eggs in incubators as of July 1, but more poults placed, according to the latest USDA data. Turkey eggs in incubators on July 1, 2005, in the United States totaled 30.5 million, 2% below July 1 a year ago. Eggs in incubators were slightly above the June 1, 2005 total of 30.4 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 5% at 5,013,000 eggs; West North Central down 2% at 11,210,000; North and South Atlantic down 2% at 8,747,000; South Central down 9% at 2,082,000; and West down 3% at 3,452,000 eggs in incubators. The 24.3 million poults placed during June 2005 in the United States were up 4% from the number placed during the same month a year ago. Placements were up 2% from May 2005.
