In its latest crop report, the USDA said this year's grapefruit crop was 1% larger than previously thought at 995,000 tons, but is still 54% below last season's final utilization. Florida's grapefruit forecast, at 12.8 million boxes (545,000 tons), is unchanged from June but 69% below last season's final utilization. Harvest is complete. The white grapefruit forecast is 3.40 million boxes (145,000 tons), unchanged from June but 79% below last season. The colored grapefruit forecast, at 9.40 million boxes (400,000 tons), is unchanged from June 1 but 62% below last season's final utilization. This is the lowest utilization since the 1935-36 season.
