Easier Undertone in Field PeasVANCOUVER - Jul 8/05 - SNS -- Field pea markets ended the week with a slightly easier undertone in the face of declining values for U.S. origin peas. While processors in that country are trying to hold firm on export and domestic asking prices, they are competing aggressively for USDA PL-480 food aid sales. This saw prices paid by the USDA drop 15% on whole yellow peas drop and 17% on green peas between June 3 and July 6 to U.S. $9.18 and $9.20 per 100 pounds (cwt) for machine dressed peas packed in bags on a delivered Gulf ports basis.
