U.S. Grain Inspections Decline in Q1WASHINGTON - Jun 29/05 - SNS -- Total grain inspections for export at U.S. ports was down during the first quarter of 2005, even as the volumes of soybeans rose, according to the USDA's Transportation and Marketing Programs/Transportation Services Branch weekly Grain Transportation Report. During the first quarter of 2005, total export inspections of U.S. grain (corn, wheat, soybeans) from all U.S. ports were 24.94 million metric tons (MT), a 7% decrease compared with 26.71 million MT in the first quarter of 2004. First quarter inspections of grain, normally lower than those of the fourth quarter, fell 22% from the fourth quarter of 2004, and were 4% below the first quarter 5-year average.
