Chiquita Reports Mixed Banana Market
NEW YORK - Jun 13/05 - SNS -- Chiquita Brands International, Inc. said banana prices received were higher in Europe in April and May but mainly unchanged in North America and lower in Asia.
Chiquita's average banana price in Europe rose 28% on a U.S. dollar basis in the first two months of the 2005 second quarter, compared to the same period a year ago. On a local currency basis, prices in those same markets rose 19% from a year ago.
