China Expects Larger Pulse HarvestWASHINGTON - Jun 3/05 - SNS -- Pulse production levels in China could increase 8% this year to around 5.8 million metric tons (MT), believes the U.S. agricultural attache for the country, as growers respond to higher kidney bean prices. Regarded as a minor crop, pulse production accounts for only 1% of China's annual grain and feed output. As a result, during 2004 government policy changes favored grain and oilseed production and led to increased acreage of corn, wheat, rice and soybeans and reduced pulse area.
