U.S. Edible Bean Seeding Lags AverageWASHINGTON - Jun 1/05 - SNS -- Seeding of this year's dry edible bean crop remains last year's pace and the recent five-year average mainly because of slower progress in North Dakota, the most important bean producing state, judging from data available from states reporting seeding progress. On a positive note, soil moisture conditions remain good. New York, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming are the driest states at mostly adequate to short; while topsoil moisture is mostly adequate to surplus in Idaho, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
