Mexican Cotton Output to JumpWASHINGTON - May 27/05 - SNS -- Cotton production in Mexico is expected to jump 47% to 900,000 bales in 2005-06, according to the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. The main factor contributing for this sharp increase is the government target price support of US$ 0.64 per pound of cotton lint and the additional government support of US$ 0.0375 per pound, which supports increased planted area for cotton.
