Venezuelan Coffee Output SlidingWASHINGTON - May 24/05 - SNS -- Coffee production has been falling in Venezuela in recent years, according to the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. "Venezuela produces coffee of very high quality, almost entirely of Arabica variety. From colonial days until the discovery of the first oil well more than a century ago, Venezuela's main source of income came mostly from coffee and cocoa. Currently, only about 200,000 hectares are under cultivation, which barely covers the huge domestic demand," the agricultural attache said.
