Iberian Cotton Exports, Import DownWASHINGTON - May 23/05 - SNS -- This year's drought in Portugal and Spain is expected to result in a smaller cotton harvest, reducing the capacity of the two countries to export cotton, though not improving demand for imported product, argues the U.S. agricultural attache for the region. Portuguese and Spanish raw cotton imports in 2005-06 are expected to reach 55,000 and 10,000 metric tons (MT), respectively, down slightly from 60,000 MT and 14,000 MT in 2004-05.
