Cotton Demand May Rise in ThailandWASHINGTON - May 20/05 - SNS -- Trade liberalization in the textile industry could result in increased sales of Thailand's textile products, with a resulting increase in demand for imported cotton, believes the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. "Thai textile export potential will likely be better, as Chinese textile export prospects will be limited by importers' anticipated safeguard measures," the U.S. agricultural attache said. "In addition, large-scale spinners have increased their production capacity and focus on high quality yarn. Moreover, Thai textile manufactures continue to encourage the Government to speed up FTA negotiations with the U.S. in order to strengthen the competitiveness of Thai garments in the U.S. market."
