Turkish Cotton Crop to SinkWASHINGTON - May 20/05 - SNS -- Cotton production is expected to drop sharply this year in Turkey in response to lower seeded area, according to a recent report from the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. "Cotton area and production are projected at about 635,000 hectares and 800,000 MT," the agricultural attache reported. "The decline in production is over 13% compared to last year. 2004 was one of the least profitable years for local cotton producers."
