Colombian Coffee Output RisingWASHINGTON - May 20/05 - SNS -- Coffee production in Colombia is expected to finish the 2004-05 season up 450,000 bags at 11.5 million and continue increasing through the coming 2005-06 season for a projected 11.6 million bags harvest, according to the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. "The trend in coffee production is to improve productivity and quality in the main growing areas, while reducing production in marginal areas," the agricultural attache said. "The higher world prices have resulted in increased productivity by allowing growers to afford a more intensive use of inputs and better management."
