Ukraine Bans Poultry ImportsBRUSSELS - May 17/05 - SNS -- Outbreaks of Newcastle disease in Greece and report of avian flu in Japan and South Korea has caused the Ukraine government to ban imports of poultry meat, eggs and feed from the three countries. The ban is considered to be a preventative measure because imports of these products from those countries are limited. Most poultry meat comes from the United States, while the country's domestic industry has been growing rapidly in recent years, with production in the opening quarter of 2005 totalling 72,100 metric tons (MT), up 25% from last year, which was up 41% from 2003.
