U.S. Sells Peas to CubaFARGO - May 5/05 - SNS -- The Cuban government signed a deal to import 5,000 metric tons (MT) MT of current crop peas from North Dakota suppliers and has committed to buy another 20,000 MT in next 18 months. State Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson made the announcement after returning from a three-day trade mission to Havana with Eric Bartsch, executive director of the North Dakota Dry Pea and Lentil Association, and Greg Johnson, owner-president of Premier Pulses, Minot. The three met with Cuban trade officials, including Pedro Alvarez, the chairman and chief executive of Empresa Cubana de Alimentos (Alimport), Cuba’s national import agency.
