South Africa to Export Less Canned FruitWASHINGTON - Apr 19/05 - SNS -- Smaller domestic harvests will force South Africa's fruit producers to export less canned fruit this year because of reduced deliveries of fresh fruit to processors. South Africa's total canned fruit production is expected to reach about 172,000 metric tons (MT) in 2004-05, a 13% decrease from 197,000 MT of last year because of lower fresh fruit deliveries for canning, reports the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. Total deciduous fruit deliveries for canned processing are expected to decrease by 11% to amount to 251,902 MT in 2005. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
