Saskatchewan Expects Less Special Crop AcresVANCOUVER - Apr 19/05 - SNS -- Saskatchewan's agriculture department expects this year's specialty crop seeded area in the province to decline from 6.095 million acres last year to around 5.89 million acres this year as gains in field pea and lentil area are offset by reductions in other specialty crops. It is important to note that Statistics Canada will release its official seeding intentions estimates for Saskatchewan and the rest of Canada on April 21. Some industry participants expected the provincial numbers to be fairly close to the official numbers -- though the survey methods differ.
